For an Italian-themed collaboration, it only makes sense for Mytheresa to join hands with D&G. After all, D&G represents Italian high fashion. Their designs have been synonymous with Italian haute couture for decades.
Portofino and the 1960s Inspiration
The D&G Mytheresa collection was designed to mirror the elegance, beauty and allure of Italy’s very own paradise — Portofino. Imagine the golden sunsets, blue Ligurian Sea and historic piazza and you’ll have a taste of what D&G’s Portofino collection offers. The collection takes inspiration from the 1960s with lightweight silk and chiffon and large statement accessories, including scards and bold sunglasses.
The pieces are brightly colored, with vibrant prints that show a series of handpainted images from the Mediterranean town. Bright blues, yellows and unforgettable reds are seen throughout the collection. Classic bustier dresses, full skirts, maxi dresses, sarong skirts and balconette bra swimsuits are all featured in the collection. The silhouettes are stunning, feminine but still voluminous. Regarding accessories, look out for maxi earrings, scarf-printed bags, large floral arrangements and postcard-themed sandals.
In addition to the main Portofino adult line, Dolce & Gabbana introduced a second mini-me set. Perfect for a family holiday, the girlswear features matching mother-and-daughter dresses.
Portofino and the Elegant Catwalk and Collaboration Celebration
On May 26, the luxury fashion house and Mytheresa held a fashion show in Portofino, Italy. Portofino is an Italian seaside paradise. It began as a small fishing village within the glorious Roman empire and has since become the destination for the elite. A-List celebrities have been known to vacation in the charming town with its quaint restaurants, authentic cafes and designer boutiques.
D&G and Mytheresa set up the catwalk event in full view of the sea and Portofino’s famous colorful buildings. Models walked the square, surrounded by guests at elegant white tables. Following the show, the guests enjoyed classic Ligurian dishes and enjoyed a fireworks display.
