Don’t let a follow-up call be necessary, a little preparation of the relevant documents prior to the meeting will save a lot of time!
Your Income Records
Bank statements, sales invoices and till summaries for the period of the audit. If using accounting software such as Kash Flow, Sage Line 50 etc then a profit and loss account export would be helpful for the auditor to have prior to the meeting.
Your Expense Receipts
Mileage logs for business use of cars, receipts for business purchases and supplier’s invoices. Many people do not know how best to keep financial records, but by meeting with an accountant first for an accounts preparation meeting, you can ensure you are keeping your records in the best way to aid your future accounts preparation.
PAYE and Payroll Details
Payroll information for employees (such as summaries of payments made, P60s for the year and any other correspondence with HMRC for the year). This will allow the accountant to check what was actually paid by you against what was reported to HMRC.
VAT Records
Bring a copy of your VAT returns and break down the figures used to complete them (eg total sales, total purchases, sales and purchase returns and any other adjustments made).
Details of Any Changes
new business use vehicle, changes to your business structure, large one off expenses etc. For Accountancy Services, visit https://bhukgroup.com/accountancy-services/.
You help the accountant to set up your accounts, saving time for advice.
